Minto Communities president Mike Belmont was on the Power Panel at the latest Developer Power Lunch, where he discussed construction loans, commercial centers, and affordable housing in relation to his company’s Westlake community.
For over 60 years, Minto has built more than 80,000 homes, 15,000 rental properties, and 2.5 million square feet of commercial space throughout Florida and Ottawa, Toronto, and Calgary, Canada. During that time, the company has built strong relationships with a number of lenders, which Belmont attributes to being the key to obtaining financing from banks during a time that regulators are putting pressure on them to pull back on construction loans.
Located in western Palm Beach County along Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Westlake will have 4,500 homes, retail and employment centers, as well as prices from the mid $200’s. Belmont feels that affordable prices and the commercial space will enable families to live, work, and shop within the community, creating a vibrant neighborhood. Minto hopes to open models at Westlake in the Fall of 2017.
Westlake will be a fitting addition to Minto’s portfolio of exceptional Florida communities, which includes Artesia, a sprawling resort-style community of sky villas, courtyards, and terrace homes in Sunrise, as well as Lake Park at Tradition, a 55+ community of single-family and villa homes in Port St. Lucie.
